Exciting News: Selected as an Artist for Día de los Muertos 2024 Exhibit

I am thrilled to share that I have been selected to participate in the California Museum’s annual Día de los Muertos Fiesta! This year’s theme, "Arte de Inspiración: Día de los Muertos 2024," is an incredible opportunity for me to showcase my art and celebrate a tradition that holds deep cultural significance. The event will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and my work will be displayed from October 12 through November 17, 2024.

Honoring Helen Fabela Chávez Through Art

For this exhibit, I have been given the honor of creating a Día de los Muertos altar, and the chosen theme is "famous Californians." After much thought, I decided to dedicate my altar to Helen Fabela Chávez, a labor activist whose tireless efforts in fighting for the rights of farmworkers have left an indelible mark on history.

Helen’s work with the United Farm Workers organization continues to inspire me. I deeply admire how she worked  behind the scenes, performing the often invisible labor that was crucial to the movement’s success. Her dedication to the cause, her family, and the sacrifices she made are a reminder of the strength and resilience required to create lasting change. I am looking forward to pay tribute to her legacy through my art, honoring both her public achievements and the quiet efforts that made such a profound difference.

A Celebration Among Esteemed Artists

I am also excited to exhibit alongside talented artists such as John Hancock & Juan Ramos, and Adrian Arias, who will also be contributing altars to the event. Sharing this experience with them is truly an honor, and I am eager to see the powerful and meaningful art that will be on display.
